Menorca
For those who know us, the Balearic Islands hold a very special place in our hearts. Although we've known Mallorca for over eight years, we discovered Menorca three years ago on our honeymoon... and it was love at first sight.
While the Balearic Islands are known for their tourist appeal and development, each with its own charm, Menorca stands out as the hidden gem. It's the island that time forgot, reminiscent of Ibiza and Majorca fifty years ago, unspoiled and sheltered. The island is small enough that you can cover it from one end to the other in just 45 minutes. Along the way, you won't see many new constructions, but rather vast expanses of farmland, with horses and a real rural atmosphere. It's like stepping back in time, offering an authentic experience away from the hustle and bustle of modern life - a true retreat.

The island’s accessibility adds to its charm, with a small airport that leads you straight into this idyllic setting. The locals are incredibly friendly, embodying the relaxed Spanish lifestyle. Menorca's authenticity is a rare find these days, and that's partly thanks to the people who are committed to preserving the island’s wellbeing. Menorca is also known for its local specialties, such as delicious cheese, the famous "pan con tomate," and incredibly fresh fish.
WHERE TO SLEEP
Hotel Son Blanc
Our standout experience on the island was at Hotel Son Blanc. There, it feels more like staying in a home rather than a hotel, with only 14 rooms spread across 130 hectares. Everything from the interior design to the food is handcrafted and sourced from the Balearic Islands. The hotel works exclusively with local artisans and operates sustainably, using solar panels for electricity, a self-sufficient water system, and home-grown food from its garden. Every detail, from the linen sheets to the homemade soap, reflects a deep respect for natural materials. It's probably one of our best hotel experiences.
Fontenille
Fontenille is known for its luxurious and serene environment. Nestled in beautiful surroundings, it's an excellent choice for those looking to immerse themselves in Menorca’s natural beauty while enjoying top-notch amenities.
